Traumatic Brain Injury

A traumatic brain injury (TBI) affects cognitive, physical, and psychological skills. Many brain injuries affect a victim for life. Typically, these injuries result from accidents in which an object strikes the head. Car accidents and work-related accidents (especially on construction sites) are primary causes. However, a TBI may also be caused by poisoning, infection, or a medical accident. A victim can be left with poor balance and coordination, motor skill impairment, lack of strength and endurance, trouble speaking and understanding language, memory impairment, changes in personality, and psychiatric problems.
